ATTRACTIONS

The historic Lower City, near the port, is Haifa's oldest area ,At the foot of Mt. Carmel , contains a string of central neighbourhoods. The area was renovated recently ,and is packed with places of entertainment, alternative clubs, culture, pubs, artists and crafts shop. Even though the area has undergone renovation and a facelift , care has been taken to preserve its unique urban character and colourful nature.

The Flea Market

There is a great deal of atmosphere in Haifa's flea Market located in Kibbutz Galuyot street and the narrow lanes around it , filled with shops and market stalls. The market mainly operates on Saturdays but some shops are open on weekdays mornings as well until noon.


Wadi Nisnas

 

Wadi Nisnas is a mixed lower city neighbourhood. Founded in the 19th century as a workers' neighbourhood. It has more or less preserved its identity and mediterranean architecture over the years. On its main streets can be found the Wadi's market and the greek orthodox St. Elijah the prophet cathedral, the

St. John's Church of the Anglicans. The Haifa Museum of art in an impressive stone building located on the border of the neighbourhood.

The German Colony

Haifa's famous German Colony is a popular tourist attraction.

The Templers, who founded it, were members of a Protestant movement founded in southern German in the second half of the 19th century who believed that rural settlement in the Holy land would bring the Redemption closer. The Templer German Colony in Haifa has been well preserved, as an important part of the city's history.

Turkish Market – The 1926 Hotel Neighbourhood

Port workers from Saloniki in Greece who were brought here to work in Haifa Port, founded the Turkish market. The market that operated into the early years of the 21st century was moved out,

the area has been renovated and upgraded, and is now home to restaurants, pubs and 1926 Hotel.
